Villa Roma gets $23K grant from city
2008-06-20
When you as a local business or property owner wants to do work on your building, one of your first phone calls should be to the city’s building improvement program.
That’s what Villa Roma did and they ended up with 75% of their costs being paid for by the city. With a few hours spent doing some paperwork, Villa Roma replaced its windows and doors and installed a new awning and sign. They also did some tuckpointing and interior work to build an office. And the city paid for $23,000 of it through the Small Business Improvement Fund.
Access to the Small Business Improvement Fund is one of the benefits of doing business and owning property at Six Corners. Not many areas of the city run the program.
The Six Corners Association has helped several local businesses fill out the paperwork. Las Tablas, 4920 W. Irving Park Road, used the program after a fire damaged its kitchen. Artemio’s Restaurant, 4918 W. Irving Park Road, is using the program to repair a leaky roof and plans to replace its awning. Also, newly opened B&B Chair Covers, 4020 N. Milwaukee Ave., will use the grant to have the city pay for its storefront sign.
